Golf on Tour

Another World Number 1

Jon Rahm’s stint at the top of the rankings lasted just a single week. All eyes were on Rory McIlroy, Brooks Koepka and Dustin Johnson to challenge the Spaniard for that top-of-the-world spot. But it was Justin Thomas, slipping under the radar, who reclaimed it with a win at the WGC-FedEx St. Jude Invitational.

If Thomas had gone under the radar beforehand, he certainly didn’t on Sunday. A combination of pink trousers and outstanding golf saw the 27-year-old steal the show, coming from four shots behind overnight leader Brendon Todd, he overtook the likes of Koepka and Rickie Fowler with a 5-under 65 at TPC Southwind.

Competition results

Members Day 2020

54 teams battled it out last Saturday for the CHAS Trophy in our annual Members Day at the club. It was a great turn out and we saw some very impressive golf played. 84 points led for most of the day until the team of Corrine Luca, Heather Shearer, Michael Luca and Tom Shearer came in late with an outstanding 89 points to win by 5.

Results can be found on our Facebook page and all vouchers have now been made up and can be collected from the professional shop. Many thanks to all our members who supported the event, it was great to see the club so busy!

Competition news

Professionals Day 2020

This year's Professionals day will be held on Saturday 22nd August and we look forward to welcoming you again this year. The format will be a four-person Texas Scramble and booking will go live on 14/08/2020. Hole sponsorships will be available from Wednesday of this week and this will be at a cost of £50 or a hole prize, this will include priority booking before it goes live to the membership and will cover members entry for the day.

The cost will be £5 per member and a normal guest fee of £20 per guest. We will have team prizes for 1st-5th place as well as prizes for longest drive, nearest the pin and nearest the pin in 2.

A member of the professional shop staff will be on the 16th hole doing a beat the pro double your money bet and we will have drinks and snacks set up on the 6th and 16th holes.

Raffle tickets will be available from Wednesday of this week via the professional shop, the top prize will be a new Scotty Cameron putter which has a value of £360, this could be the answer to all your short game flaws.

We want to make this a great day at the club so let's get the tee sheet fully booked, we will have some great prizes for you all to win!

Archie's corner

Archie Bear with Barnster

Archie and Barney get on fairly well. Barney is so patient with him. He is a gentle dog, but Archie has to be a lot more gentle!!

Control your ball, conquer the course
