Bunker Re-facing
This week the team have been re-facing the bunker on the right of the 10th hole and will start on the greenside bunker on the right of the 12th. Here are some before and after pictures of the great work that they have done.
|
We are really happy with the work that they have done on the bunkers over the last couple of months, it is a huge improvement. This puts us in a good position for our new course manager James Parker to start on February 3rd. He will come in with some new ideas and there is no doubt there is an exciting 2020 ahead.

Short Game Sessions
We have had a lot of interest regarding short game sessions and we are looking to finalise a date for the first session. We plan to run a midweek session and a weekend session to accommodate everyone’s availability.
Details: • Two-hour open session where members can come and go as they please • £5 per session that can be paid on the day • A great opportunity to receive short game advice from PGA Professionals • A chance to try the demo products that we have to see if new equipment can improve your game. This will include wedges with different lofts, lies, bounce and grind which can all play a big part in how you play different shots around the greens.

Ladies Coaching
Heading into the new season we will be offering ladies group coaching for our lady members. Fraser and Matthew will run sessions weekly with 6-8 ladies attending each session.
There is a signup sheet in the lady’s locker room where we ask you to put down your preferred day and time so we can organise these sessions to meet everyone’s availability. Sessions will be £7.50, and this will include complimentary tea and coffee afterwards.
|
Get Into Golf
There will be a new Get Into Golf class starting as the weather improves. This is a great opportunity to introduce any friends or family who is looking to try the game. There will be a complimentary trial session where they can come along and get a taste for it. After this, we will run blocks of group coaching where we will meet weekly to help the new golfers improve before taking them onto the golf course.
We are working to finalise dates for these classes, but it will likely start mid-March early April. We encourage all members to reach out to anyone they feel would be interested in trying golf for the first time!

When Ball Is In Bunker?
A ball is in a bunker when any part of the ball: • Touches sand on the ground inside the edge of the bunker, or • Is inside the edge of the bunker and rests:
- On ground where sand normally would be (such as where sand was blown or washed away by wind or water), or
- In or on a loose impediment, movable obstruction, abnormal course condition or integral object that touches sand in the bunker or is on ground where sand normally would be.
If a ball lies on soil or grass or other growing or attached natural objects inside the edge of the bunker without touching any sand, the ball is not in the bunker.
If part of the ball is both in a bunker and in another area of the course, see Rule 2.2c.
|
It’s safe to say that the technology embedded into today’s clubs has helped us hit the ball further without swinging any harder. For some that might mean hitting the ball as far as we did before the effects of ageing started to take place, whereas for others it means booming drives 300+ yards and reaching par-5s in two. |
Just imagine... If you hit every club in your bag five to ten yards further, your tee shots will be longer and you'll have less distance remaining to the green. So, rather than standing there with a 6-iron you might now have an 8-iron in your hand, which gives you a much better chance of hitting it close.
|
We can help you! This can be the reality for a lot of club golfers today, but only if you make sure your clubs are right for your swing. With lots of new products hitting the shelves in the coming weeks, now's the perfect time to try out a few different options and see if we can make a difference to your game. |
