Pro's news

British Masters

This week on the European Tour Justin Rose hosted the British Masters at Walton Heath which was won by Eddie Pepperell. The young Englishman played great golf in tricky conditions which was highlighted by a hole in one of Thursday and a hole out eagle on Sunday to claim the title. It was good to see the pro's having to play in the conditions that we often have to deal with; wind, rain and full waterproofs.

Colin Back from Holiday

I return to work this week after two weeks away in the sun in Turkey, it was great to get away as you always need a break but feeling refreshed now coming back to work. Fraser now heads away for two weeks back to Atlanta where he went to university. It will be good for him to get away and then we will all be feeling refreshed heading into the winter.

Rule of the week

Searching For And Identifying Ball

If you think a ball is yours but cannot see your identification mark, after notifying your marker or opponent, you may mark the position of the ball and lift it to identify it. When lifted under this Rule, the ball may not be cleaned except to the extent necessary to identify it (Rule 12-2).

It's time for a change

When you step onto the tee with a driver in hand, there are two thoughts in most golfers' minds: "Hit it far, and hit it straight". Both of these were easier said than done, until Titleist released its new TS2 and TS3 drivers earlier this year...

How much could you gain?

Both of these drivers are designed to bring more speed to your game, which results in greater distance. It's as simple as that.

The Titleist TS2 is all about forgiveness. In fact, it has the highest MOI that Titleist has ever produced, which means it's more resistant to twisting at impact, for longer and straighter shots. However, if you have a consistent miss with your drives, the TS3 will be perfect for you as we can set it up to counter your destructive shot.

Grounded

The proposed changes to the Rules of Golf are less than three months away, so we thought we'd look at one introduction which will put your mind at ease when your ball has landed in a penalty area (previously referred to as water hazard)...

Under the current Rules of Golf (13.4), when your ball is in a water hazard, you cannot touch the ground with your hand or club. However, under the proposed changes (17), there will be no special restrictions meaning you will be allowed to move loose impediments and touch the ground with hand or club, so long as the conditions for the stroke aren't improved by doing so.

The reasons for the change stems from the confusion and complications in applying the original Rule, such as what constitutes "touching" if a player does so as a result of, or to prevent falling into, the hazard.
