Good weather is continuing into this week and onto to the Scottish Open at Gullane. Last weekend was a huge success, and the course stood up to the challenge of the Scottish Open qualifier. |
Scottish Open Qualifier The Greens team got the Golf course in fantastic condition for the event. Big thanks to them for their effort, to Bob for the organisation, and all the members who gave up their time helping around the club. It was a great effort from all and the club should be proud to hold the event. The players loved the course, I heard no complaints from anyone.
Vice Captain John starting. Gust of wind blew the trophy over!!!

Scoring wise 4 under was the winning score:
Duncan Stewart -4 winner Connor O’Neil -4 Peter Whiteford -3 Jamie McLeary
Personally I enjoyed welcoming fellow Professionals to our club, but my golf was pretty terrible. I hit all over the course, got anxious and lost a bit of confidence. I tried but have just not put in enough effort on the course of late due to other areas, so got what I deserved.
|
I appreciated all the support the members gave me, I just wanted to be playing better. Golf is tough game when you are not playing well. But its just a game, there's always next time.

Scottish Open Pro-Am
Longniddry Junior member Jamie Gallagher (far left) playing in the Scottish Open Pro-Am on Wednesday.
For those that don’t know Jamie has had a tough year due to illness but was determined to play in the Pro-Am.
I don’t now how he has done it, but his determination to play got him there.
Well done Jamie. I am delighted to see you got to play!!

Pace of Play Player responsibilities Very few golfers would admit to being slow players but we can all do our bit to play a little bit faster. Be ready to play • While you are waiting to play, use your time wisely so when it is your turn you are ready to play. • When it is your turn to play, play promptly. • Consider your pre-shot routine - saving even a few seconds will help. • When play of a hole has been completed, leave the putting green quickly.
Play at a good pace • Always play at a good pace. • Keep up with the group in front. • Invite the group behind to play through if appropriate. • Play a provisional ball to save time if you think your ball may be lost. Did you know? If each player in a four-ball takes 5 seconds less to play each shot, the round time can be improved by over 25 minutes.

Playing golf in the sunshine is something we all love, but it does have its downsides when bright light compromises your view. This is why Oakley offers such a great range of eye-catching, golf-specific sunglasses to help your game. |
Don't put up with squinting Trying to track a drive into low sun is just one problem summer golf can create. It also becomes more difficult to pick an aiming point and to read greens when bright light disguises subtle contours. One eyewear option we love thanks to its cool frame style you can wear off-course is the Oakley Targetline (pictured here). It comes with the option of Prizm golf lenses that enhance clarity and maximise contrast to give you better depth perception and make slopes easier to spot, as displayed in the image above. |
