Change is coming
Hope your all enjoying this great weather, the course is looking good, and shaping up well. Next weekend is the Scottish Open Qualifier. It’s a great event to hold at our club, and four players will progress onto the Scottish Open at Gullane GC.
Professional Shop wise we have completed the renovations, and now looking to get the shop carpeted and some good signs on the window and outside. I think its looking good, with new design, lighting, workshop/storeroom area. Next I will start progressing the Swing room area. Work has been done in this area, so now I need to get the correct equipment etc. Hopefully start pushing this forward now over the coming weeks.
Last week I went to the Titliest Fitting Centre at Craigielaw with four club members, It was a really interesting day, seeing what improvements we could make to the customer’s equipment. Graeme Noblet was excellent with his advice and knowledge and we made improvements with each customer. If this is something you would like to do, please contact me.

Welcome Fraser
New to the team is Fraser Johnston, Fraser joined the team this month and has been a member of Longniddry for many years. Personally I am very happy with Fraser and Matt as part of my team.
We should be able to provide a great service to members and visitors to Longniddry GC.

First one way, now the other The U.S. Open had everything from the sublime to the ridiculous, and it’s safe to say that the course set-up played a huge part in this. With much of the debate centred around whether the USGA made conditions too tricky or not, we posed this very question to you over the past week on our website poll and here are the results: 75% of you believe the USGA got it wrong at Shinnecock Hills It really does make for interesting reading. Just a couple of months ago we asked you whether you’d prefer to see 20-under-par win a tournament or two-over-par, and the results were the complete reverse. On that occasion, 82% voted in favour of seeing the world’s best struggle to make a score, which is exactly what happened at the U.S. Open. Click here to let us know your thoughts. |

Ball Lost or Out of Bounds; Provisional Ball
Check the Local Rules on the scorecard to identify the boundaries of the course. These are normally defined by fences, walls, white stakes or white lines. If your ball is lost outside a water hazard or out of bounds you must play another ball from the spot where the last shot was played, under penalty of one stroke, i.e. stroke and distance.
You are allowed five minutes to search for a ball, if it is not found within five minutes it is lost. |
|
If, after playing a shot, you think your ball may be lost outside a water hazard or out of bounds you should play a provisional ball, you must announce that it is a provisional ball and play it before you go forward to search for the original ball.
If the original ball is lost (other than in a water hazard) or out of bounds, you must continue with the provisional ball, under penalty of one stroke. If the original ball is found in bounds within five minutes, you must continue play of the hole with it, and must stop playing the provisional ball. |
Which bracket do you fall in? |
There’s one thing that you'll always need in abundance when playing golf and that’s balls - and plenty of them. Each golf ball we sell offers different levels of feel and performance at varying price points, meaning we have something to offer all playing preferences and budgets. |
| Bang for your buck Balls at a cheaper price point usually have one key performance benefit rather than offering a little of everything. This Callaway Warbird follows the trend by offering maximum distance with your longer clubs thanks to its aerodynamic dimples and high-energy core, giving you lots of power for little expenditure. |
| The all-rounder If you’re looking for more balanced performance through the bag but without the premium price tag, this Callaway Supersoft ball is designed to be long, straight and soft. It doesn’t spin as much as the Chrome Soft, but its low compression core helps create long, high flights that land softly. |
| Tour performance The saying 'you get what you pay for' certainly applies when it comes to golf balls. Callaway's Chrome Soft is their premium option, and it's easy to see why, with a soft urethane cover for short-game spin and a graphene-infused core that boosts ball speed and provides more iron control. |
