The Masters
What a great weekend of golf at the US Masters, 1st Major of the season. Every year it produces an exciting finish and this year did not disappoint. Going into the final round I thought really only Rory and Reed had a chance. The Masters set the course Sunday so the players can score, but its actually amazing how they play on such a tough and demanding course. |
Casey, Spieth, Fowler, and Rahm all played some amazing golf but they were just too many shots away from Patrick Reed. I, like a few others thought Rory would come through, but his golf in the final round was poor, compared to his normal high standards. A little bit off from the tee, put pressure on his irons, which in turn put huge pressure on his putting.
Hats off to Patrick Reed, maybe not the most popular winner in his own country, but he showed great determination, course play and mental desire to win. I thought he thoroughly deserved the win, holding it together with all the great play going on around him over the last two days. What’s wrong with being confident in his own ability! He proved he is world class!! |
Finally, Tony Finau on the par 3 Thursday. Hole in one, dislocates his ankle celebrating, pops it right back in there and then, completes his round. Then goes on to finish T10. How did he manage that?

Another great weeks viewing at he Masters. Next major is the US Open at Shinnecock Hills in June.

Golf can be a frustrating game at the best of times, but incurring a penalty stroke when you’ve accidentally done something wrong seems very unfair, especially when that one stroke could be the difference between getting a handicap cut or not. |
| Current Rules Under the current Rules of Golf, if you accidentally nudge your ball while addressing it you incur a one-stroke penalty and must replace it (18-2). The only exception relates to if it is accidentally moved in the process of marking it. In this case, it must be replaced and there is no penalty (20-1). New Rules from 2019 The new proposed rule (13.1c) states there will no longer be a penalty for accidentally causing your ball to move on the green and you must replace it on its original spot. |
